At The Learning Alliance, we believe that literacy is more than just an academic skill—it’s the foundation for a thriving community. Our mission is bold: to ensure that 90% of students are reading on grade level by the end of third grade. Through our public-private partnership with SDIRC and the community, innovative programs, and a relentless commitment to student success, we’ve made tremendous strides. And now, with the Moonshot Blog, we have a new platform to share our journey.
This blog will highlight the wins, challenges, and lessons learned along the way. It’s a space to celebrate the educators, families, and students who make our progress possible. It’s a way to show the impact of every dollar donated and every hour invested in our programs. And it’s an invitation for others—school leaders, philanthropists, and community members—to join us in this mission.

- Success Stories: How our Moonshot Academy is accelerating student learning, with participants showing 50% more growth in reading than their peers.
- Teacher Spotlights: The impact of our 25 literacy coaches and interventionists who bring evidence-based reading instruction into classrooms across SDIRC.

Our approach is working. In Indian River County, third-grade reading scores now exceed the state average by nine percentage points. But this isn’t just about numbers—it’s about children gaining the confidence and skills to succeed in school and in life.
