Over 250 Moonshot supporters were treated to an "Evening Among the Stars," complete with virtual reality fun, stargazing with Hallstrom Planetarium Director Jon Bell and the astronomy club, and smooth jazz from James Broxton and the Essence of Sound band.
Ray Oglethorpe, past president of AOL and chairman of the board of The Learning Alliance, thanked the crowd of community supporters and local educators for their award-winning work toward our Moonshot Moment goal to have 90 percent of students reading proficiently by the end of third grade.
Heid Sparkes-Guber ,founding partner of 4th Quadrant Partners, shared that the Moonshot Moment is gaining international attention for the conclusive results of sustainable, transformational change that the Moonshot Movement has achieved. She added that the Moonshot Moment's breakthrough work is inspiring other groups around the world who are working to create social change on a local level.
The magical evening was a tribute to the promise that our Moonshot Community Action Network has made to our children: to develop curious, caring, creative, literate citizens who will improve our world. We are becoming the literacy capital of the nation! For more information, visit www.thelearningalliance.org or www.moonshotmoment.org.
