The ABCs of IRC: Celebrating Our Moonshot Community, One Letter at a Time
Our ABCs of IRC (Indian River County) campaign is more than just an alphabet—it’s a celebration of who we are as a community.
Every word chosen to represent each letter was selected by you, our neighbors, through in-person and online polls. The artwork, brought to life by local artist Kelly Williams, beautifully reflects the history, heart and spirit of Indian River County.
This campaign was inspired by our friends at Philadelphia’s Read by 4th campaign, and we are proud to carry forward the idea in our own Moonshot way. Because here in Indian River County, FL, we know our community is something truly special—and our alphabet reflects that.
Why the ABCs of IRC Matter
The ABCs of IRC are more than colorful posters. They’re a learning tool, grounded in the simple view of the science of reading. These posters can be used to:
- Teach letter names, shapes, and sounds
- Spark conversations that build vocabulary
- Encourage comprehension through shared discussions
- Connect families, educators, and children in playful learning moments
When we display these ABCs, we’re doing more than decorating a wall—we’re taking a stand for children and for education.
We’re grateful to our community members for their input in selecting the words for each letter, and to our local talented artist Kelly Williams for creating the playful images used in the poster.
