Celebrating Dr. Seuss

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go. – Dr. Seuss

The boys and girls of Indian River County celebrated Dr. Seuss on March 2, in honor of his birthday at the Gifford Youth Achievement Center and in Fellsmere. The Learning Alliance hosted a party for Theodor Seuss Geisel, an American writer, and illustrator of popular children’s books filled with nonsense words, playful rhymes, and unusual creatures that speak to the children and their imagination.

The children enjoyed cupcakes after guest readers shared Seuss favorites, like “One Fish, Two Fish,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” and “The Cat in the Hat.”

To top off the evening, the children visited the Moonshot Moment Bookmobile and Luna the Literacy RV and selected age-appropriate books to take home and read.
