An Announcement from The Learning Alliance and Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative

March 27, 2020

Dear TLA and KRC Funders and Key Partners:

On behalf of the TLA and KRC Boards of Directors, we want to share the exciting news of the pending merger on April 1st, 2020 between The Learning Alliance (TLA) and the Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative (KRC). While the official media release will be distributed publicly on April 1st, you can preview it by clicking the link below.

The merger process began in September, 2019, when the KRC Board and community partners asked TLA to consider merging KRC into TLA to increase efficiencies and create a more powerful and efficient combination to build up stronger backbone support for families in our Moonshot Community.

We are pleased to share that as of April 1st, 2020 the Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative will be legally merged into TLA.  With a shared mission in place to reach our Moonshot Moment goal that 90% of children are ready for kindergarten and are reading on grade level by the end of third grade, we firmly believe that this integrated model will not only lead to a more efficient use of resources but will also make a significant system-level impact that improves literacy for all children in Indian River County.

We are grateful to the Indian River community of funders who have supported the work of TLA and of KRC, as we aim to make Indian River County a literacy capital of the nation. Please be assured that KRC’s focus on early childhood advocacy and early childhood literacy will continue, and their staff will be retained and fully supported. Future grant allocations received on behalf of the KRC will be placed in a restricted account and will be monitored by TLA accounting and auditing procedures.

We welcome your questions and suggestions for improvement as we embark on this new and exciting phase on behalf of children.

Warmest Regards,
Barbara Hammond
